------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...::: (O)pen (S)ource (I)ntelligence (A)udio :::... || osia-audio.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- OSIA is a novel R&D initiative and a manufacturer of goods for hi-fi music listening. We focus primarily on digital streamers and the equipment that accompanies them. We are dedicated to solving hard problems in these areas. Our mission is to move things in the digital audio world to a new level by educating people how to get more out of their music listening devices and hook them up with tools and products needed for that within reasonable budget. There are specific technical categories no one on the market explored further than OSIA and that will change the streamer game for a lot of people. Those attributes will be used for the benefit of our friends and customers. OSIA is a result of an over 5-year obsession of a small group of people with making digital sound to be analog like, to sound just right. Which occurred to be entirely possible without breaking the buck! Digital transports / streamers of certain quality occurred to be an entry ticket to that magical sound. But no one so far produced a streamer that we would consider a truly worthy contender for our own use... This is how OSIA has been born: out of necessity - to produce streamers for ourselves. Only later we realized that there is a lot of people out there who deal with similar problems we have been, people who could use a helpful hand beyond a simple advice given on the Internet... Also, we want to break the terrible spell of uninformed customers buying glorified iPad like digital devices that say they are "streamers" but are not suitable for use in hi-fi at all. In recent years those (usually China made) flashy entertainment stations became the dominant solution for many. Those products are atrocious when it comes down to sound quality leaving people buying them with a very wrong impression regarding what is possible in general with proper streamers. And there is only a few things worse in hi-fi than being stuck because someone lied to us... Let's not be in that position ever again. At the moment (end of 2025) OSIA is in a very early start-up phase where the designs for our first 2-3 streamer products are being finished and production procedures refined. All of that must be documented and will be published on this website as soon as possible for you to be able to make a well informed choice. Both as finished products and as information packs about how to replicate our achievements on your own if you wish to do so. This is what we've developed so far (to give you an idea about what we do and how): /////// *) Three different streamer products / levels / platforms. Ranging from DYI-ish ~1000 EUR options, thru 1600-2600 EUR small high quality integrated solutions, ending with a ~7500 EUR monster 20kg Big streamer that is the pinnacle of our technical abilities and is especially dedicated to DACs like Audio Note to replace top CD transports. On top of that we will have a couple options for Diretta server machines to accompany our streamers if you want to go that route. We always think end-to-end and we solve typical problems for you. | *) Not only streamer products, but also what belongs to the streamer's inside can be bought separately as components for those who would prefer to build their streamer themselves. OSIA will provide as much knowledge and tools as possible to the community to raise the awareness of what is possible with modern technology and clever thinking, being an enabler for builders to reach new heights in terms of sound quality. | *) We developed our own networking stack fully focused on cooperating with Diretta protocol: a) in-house networking cards, b) our own networking switch, c) special LAN cables and passive filters, d) a lot of software optimisations for the previously mentioned including kernel and drivers. | *) It took as couple years to develop a computing platform (the computer / CPU part) that works with a central high quality clock and special power supplies to bring the noise level far below of what our competition was able to achieve. This resulted in OSIA's computers to be probably the best foundation platform for audio streamers in the world... This was also achieved with tight integration and cooperation with AudioLinux operating system. We decided to go solely with low-power computers, but we optimize them meticulously under a real-time operating system. | *) We've also developed two models of our own USB audiophile cards that will be available only with our streamers. | *) We've developed in-house both OCXO and femto class clocks and central clocking systems, plus power supplies for them that are exceptional quality. Each one of our streamers contains this technology, so even with an entry level offering you're already starting much more above what is available on the average on the market. | *) We've developed an extremely high-level linear power supply technology that will be the core of our cheaper streamers range and will enable those products to sound better than what the competition offers for 5x less price. The Big streamer on the other hand contains a bigger 7-rail PSU we also make ourselves for the best possible quality. A lot of research in the power domain brought the cost of truly audiophile grade LPSUs down for us (think LPSUs that usually cost ~1000 EUR per unit), so we can offer this level of sound to everyone regardless of the product level for all our streamers to sound simply amazing because of having absolutely great power supplies. | *) OSIA is the only research shop in the streamer world that mostly focuses on digital outputs other than USB only. SPDiF is especially close to our hearts. Naturally we made a lot of discoveries in that area we want to share with you. Some were never commercially available until now or you could find them only in very, very expensive CD transports. That doesn't mean that we won't do USB. We do and on a pretty hight level. It's just not our priority that certain output as we mostly like and use old NOS DACs. Regardless, all our streamers are available with a full set of typical audiophile outputs, each one fully optimized. On top of that we're working on novel ways of connecting our streamers using native i2s links with compatible DACs which would bring the game on another level in the future. | *) We have covered all technical bases with having full control of the following most important aspects of our streamers' sound: power delivery, clocking, software integration. It's because we do most things in-house and we conduct our own research. OSIA's streamers are tightly integrated packages of hardware and software components that work with each other particularly well. Within a handful of quality classes three lines of streamer products have been developed, but each one has it's own way of doing things right on its price point. || ***) The future will bring: vacuum tube based power supplies for output cards in streamers, tube buffer for SPDiF, vacuum tube clocks for SPDiF and I2S/HDMI, native i2s communication between our streamers and compatible NOS DACs, new kind of a SPDiF receiver dedicated to Audio Note DACs to get even more out of them when using our streamers... These will be supplementary tools to shape the sound of your system based on an OSIA streamer. No other company in the world offer anything even remotely similar. It's going to far for them. It's not for us, though. A lot of potential lies in those under explored territories (as some of our prototypes have shown). We're very fortunate to have onboard people who are interdisciplinary connecting together: hardware, software, and vacuum tubes tech. We are dedicated to solving predominantly hard problems in the streamers area, and we mean business as you hopefully see at this point. Otherwise there would be not much sense of starting just another company that does streamers similar to what the market currently has to offer. We have some very unique perspectives inside OSIA on how things could be moved even further. Some are esoteric, some sound crazy... At the end of the day what matters is that you will have options that are far broader than usual when it comes down to shaping your digital sound on a very high level. There is no such thing as an universal hi-end streamer. Such device must be tailored up to a given system to truly shine and very little companies go the extra mile with enabling their customers to do what is needed. Shiny metal boxes won't replace what is a necessity to play in a pro league. The same goes for marketing mambo-jumbo. We consider ourselves on the top of the streamer game when it comes down to the technology offered. Yet, we are able to achieve that without overcharging for our products. This is due to the (I) part in the OSIA's name. Intelligence - we utilize that a lot ;) If something can be done much cheaper with full preservation of the sound quality - we will do that for the benefit of our customers. OSIA isn't about shiny enclosures, etc. It's also probably an anti-audiophile company in the way the audio market is understood today by many... After all, a streamer is just a computer. A specialized one, nonetheless, but it really shouldn't cost much more than a high quality commercial, professional PC workstation... How we landed with 20-40k USD priced PC's in audio today you might ask... That's beyond our understanding to be honest. Fortunately, though, we know how to achieve similar or even better results when still being in touch with our values and being reasonable. Hi-Fi should be for everyone. This is what we mean. There are good things waiting for a conscious buyer on different price levels. OSIA's products are for the following kind of customers: ////// *) People buying a streamer for the first time and also wanting to bypass the hype surrounding a lot of modern products. People that are willing to assimilate that, no, a good streamer can't have a display. Not even a small one. Those who want to pick a vendor they have a feeling they could stick with and grow not going bankrupt. People who like to make smart buying decisions and think long term. Business proposal: buy your first streamer but do it the right way. So it will bring you not only joy, but also a feeling of multiple possibilities waiting for you in the future. Upgrade when you are ready knowing that the current buy will give you a proper digital base for the next couple years. | *) Experienced audiophiles functioning in the camp of Audio Note / Abbas Audio / SW1X digital products that are probably the best in the world. It's very hard for them to adapt already existing streamer solutions into their setups, and OSIA is the only manufacturer in the world largely focused on producing streamers elevating those great components to their highest capacity. They will be delighted with what we can offer, and they will be waiting for future upgrades with enthusiasm. | *) There are shades of gray between the two above positions, so we will also have a compact product for those who are outside of the AN-like camp, but are also highly functioning and conscious audiophiles. Those who feel that what is currently offered to them on the market... That there is something wrong with it. They know that achieving great sound requires experimenting, and a perspective of rotate 20-40k USD streamers is out of option to many. Because that is simply not reasonable. Whereas OSIA is and has been started to help people like that to get most of their equipment offering them multiple effective ways of moving forward and finally getting the desired sound. With well targeted options, upgrade paths, etc. Business proposal: buy a whole high-level streamer for the price you'd normally need to pay just for audiophile grade PCIe cards and PSUs. Utilize knowledge of those who spend years optimizing things to work together in the best way possible. | *) DYI folks who are usually stuck on a certain level of sound quality using information available over the Internet, because going further would require very substantial investment they aren't willing to push a trigger on. OSIA will provide them with knowledge and tools to get over that phase and go straight to what's the best. Without breaking the buck. We have nothing against a handy person. Utilize your skills, use our technology and knowledge to save time and let's enjoy good sound and grow together! || ***) We appreciate customers of certain mentality. Those who don't like the fact that hi-fi became an elitist hobby and think things can be and should be done in a more reasonable way in this hobby (and still can be truly hi-end within that approach, because this isn't about money in most cases). That kind of customers will be OK with the fact that OSIA has zero marketing, that it sometimes does look DYI like here and there (in the areas it doesn't matter really), and that they need to work too with / along OSIA themselves to get the most out of their equipment. Spending money only is not enough to get the best sound possible. That's a hard fact of life. Dedication is the king whatever the budget at your disposal. ------- At the moment OSIA doesn't accept orders officially yet, but if you are in a desperate need for a streamer that doesn't suck we can prepare a small batch of our entry-level product costing 1600 EUR (that is already operating in the range of competing products costing 5-6k+ EUR). We call that thing a small streamer, or a "project nEversolo" or "never YOLO" ;-) It's a small and clever machine providing you with all output ports an audiophile might need. Much better than what is popular on the market that is in our opinion dominated by products built in a way that they shouldn't be even considered as viable options for hi-fi... A good fit for DACs up to ~5k EUR in most cases for popular choices nowadays. In the future we plan to provide an upgrade program during which we'll buy back your old OSIA streamer when you want to upgrade to a higher model paying only a difference in price. So, there's no risk that such product you buy today is going to be orphaned, etc. Also, most our models are customizable and friendly in terms of modernizing them. So, you can buy one without hesitation if you want even today. You are in good hands already if you reached this website. For higher range offering, and especially with our Big / top streamer, you will need to wait until we're ready. That is still in development (75% done at December 2025) and since we are obsessed with sound quality we will not produce anything less than a kick ass system. After all this is *the streamer* we use ourselves, and people here in OSIA have very high standards regarding sound quality. These our streamers will be in high demand we think due to an unusual combination of performance and price, and since our streamers can't be mass produced (some unusual technologies in play here) we think there will be a waiting list for our offering sooner or later. It's a good idea to stay in touch with us to be notified about the availability of certain products you might be interested in as soon as they are ready to be produced. With some luck soon some of our streamers will be available to be demoed-in in your house settings upon request for selected potential buyers. PS: OSIA's smaller streamers, other than the Big one - all of that are offshoots of a multiyear development process on our top level product. Some opportunities we've found during working on the Big streamer have come to light and this is how they became viable options on their own. ofcourse you get what you pay for, but with our tech always a lot of value. Keep that in mind, be reasonable with your choices and simply match your streamer choice to your current (and the next one) hi-fi system. Things must and should be a good fit to each other component wise. Stay tuned, keep your fingers crossed and wish us luck! OSIA might be the best thing that will ever happen to you in your digital hi-fi journey. Whether the commercial part of our enterprise is going to be a success - that will entirely depend on people and if they will be able to recognize extremely good value. We think they will. We also think that this whole project can be done with the preservation of our core values and in good overall atmosphere. We believe that we can both be friends in this hobby and do business with each other generating value for each side engaged. Check this website once in a while for updates.
